Blue Jay

Today I went for a run. Very refreshing. As I ran a sweet mixture of Red bud, Dogwood, and wildflowers filled the air, causing me to say… I’ve needed this for a long time… Thank you God.  As I made my way down Moore street… splashing through puddles and trying to avoid traffic and noticing my body struggling to keep the  pace that I had set for myself, I heard a startling noise to my left. I was a blue jay that was in pain. I watched as it struggled to free its foot from the clutches of the barbwire fence to no avail. My heart went out too this small creature.  It made me cringe to think of the pain it was going  through. My first response was to help it free  it from the agony it was experiencing. As I moved closer to the bird it only continued to struggle more. Slowly I backed away not wanting to cause more pain. In my confusion, a battle was going on inside my chest whether or not to try to free the blue Jay, risking getting bitten or more my eyes pocked out. For what seemed like eternity, I stood there watching this animal, wishing I could free it’s foot.  Finally I decided to pray that it would be free. After deciding to leave a small voice from out of the blue, said move closer. I did and to my surprise the Blue Jay, flew away. It was definitely hurt and a bit of blood and feather were left, but it lived and kept living and would heal in time.

Can you put yourself in my shoes or maybe in the blue  Jays situation? Don’t we want to help people, but, by helping them… moving toward them, even just by talking to them about there pain may… may cause more pain, because they experience the trauma all over again. But really… if I had not gone closer would the Blue jay have decide to wiggle free from it’s possible death? Or maybe your the blue jay… afraid of facing your problems and reasonably so. It causes us excruciating pain to work through our emotional pain. But usually…. I believe it is safe to say usually… we are released from that pain and grow even though even the pain is unbearable. Help and listen to those in pain and don’t shy away from friends who want to help. I will bring freedom. Trust and and believe, You never know who may benefit from your walking in faith to help them heal… who knows they may even find freedom.

Awesome. This reminded me of Mincayani from End of the Spear. As a result of the missionaries coming to his village, he was in anguish, realizing he needed to change but not wanting to. Eventually he found freedom!

Sometimes we may feel a lot of pain because of others’ pain, but that should not stop up from reaching out to them. Jesus was willing to give even his LIFE.

That’s so true! Love is not a safe thing. Jesus proved that love is painful. If we’re going to obey His command to love, we must empty ourselves and lay down our lives for our brothers.

Awesome!!! Christ’s power is so much greater than our pain and fear. I’m so glad that He came near to us, emptied Himself and reached into our lives to free us. His Spirit empowers us to bring His freedom to those around us. Keep living His freedom and bringing healing to the broken!
